Q: What qualifications or credentials am I looking for?

A: Membership in associations such as ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) tells you that your home inspector is dedicated to professionalism, experience and education. Membership requirements are sometimes more stringent than state certifications and require the home inspector to pass extensive testing as well as performing a minimum number of inspections.  ASHI members are also required to obtain educational points on an annual basis to maintain their membership status.
